All of Victoria Schlup’s hard work at Newman Regional Health has paid off.
Schlup was recently honored with the Daisy Award, an award recognizing extraordinary nurses. Schlup has been a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital for three years.
Schlup says it was a very chaotic day and she had to hold back her tears when she found out she was the recipient of the award.
Schlup wanted to be a nurse when she was growing up. Once her grandmother got cancer and she assisted in taking care of her before she passed away, that’s when nursing became her desired profession.
Newman Regional Health Chief Medical Officer Heather Aylward says Schlup is deserving of the award.
To nominate a nurse, visit https://www.newmanrh.org/daisyaward/. Each patient also receives a pamphlet in their discharge packet as well for nominations. Aylward says there are other awards, Google and Star Awards, awarded to any of their clinical team or anyone in the hospital.
