The Emporia Recreation Commission’s New Rec Center Steering Committee has some review to do at its meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Board members will meet at 1 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center to review proposals from architectural engineering and construction manager at risk firms, setting the stage for narrowing the field over the next few weeks. Finalist interviews are tentatively set for the week of June 10, with a decision tentatively made by June 14.
The Rec Commission says the Lee Beran Recreation Center, the city’s current public recreation facility, has less than half the space available to meet the area’s current and future recreation needs. It is considering a significant expansion of that building or a brand-new space near downtown.
