The NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field National Championships got underway from Welch Stadium Thursday. The new Witten Track ran fast on day one under partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 80s with most races just outside of being wind legal. Emporia State sprinter Ty Anderson ran a personal best 10.27 in the 100m dash and finished 14th in an event that featured two athletes that went under 10 seconds with the slowest qualifying time to the finals at 10.16s. Jake Johnson finished 10th in the 400m hurdles while Abigael Reid finished 14th in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00.09. None of the three qualified for the finals. Trenden Collins is in action Friday in the men’s high jump representing Emporia State. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
