Ten Gold Star families from Kansas will spend this upcoming weekend in Washington, DC, as the federal government officially updates the national monument honoring the First Infantry Division.
The families, all grieving members killed while serving in wars and military conflicts, are in the nation’s capital as guests of Senator Roger Marshall, who says the Kansas Congressional delegation has been working for years to get the monument updated.
The update honors over 600 soldiers killed in action during several military operations, including Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn.
