A lot of sunshine is ahead for the daylight hours, but there is a chance of severe weather Thursday night.
There is a very low chance for strong to severe storms for the late afternoon and evening hours, but the better chance of severe weather comes overnight — if storms move southeast out of Nebraska and across eastern Kansas, and forecast models disagree on whether that will happen. If storms reach us, hail up to egg size and winds up to 75 mph are the main concerns. Isolated tornadoes are unlikely but possible.
The Storm Prediction Center has area counties in a slight severe weather risk, mainly for the overnight storm chances.
Friday has a chance of storms through most of the morning with a high of 77. Saturday has an enhanced risk for all severe weather hazards by late afternoon. Non-severe storms are possible Sunday, and Memorial Day looks to be dry and sunny with highs in the upper 70s.
