Potential trial dates are now on the docket in a Lyon County kidnapping and sex abuse case.
This week, Judge Laura Miser approved potential start dates of Aug. 26 or Sept. 9 in the case against Daniel Anthony Olivarez. A status hearing is coming Aug. 21, while hearings dates for motions will be set later.
Olivarez stands accused of holding several people inside an Emporia home at gunpoint, having one of the alleged victims drive him to another location and then forcing a better than three-hour standoff before surrendering to local authorities as part of a lengthy incident in Emporia this past January. He’s formally charged with aggravated indecent liberties, aggravated kidnapping, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary, aggravated battery and aggravated assault among other charges.
