The Kansas Turnpike Authority says it’s getting victimized by a scam effort.
The scam involves texts saying customers oave an outstanding balance and need to visit a special website to avoid a late fee. The Turnpike Authority says i’s part of a national smishing campaign, where scammers send text messages allegedly from reputable, established companies to get personal information like passwords and credit card numbers.
If you get such a text, go to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov and click “File a Complaint” at the top of the page.
