The race for Kansas Senate 17th District is getting more crowded.
David Schneider, the owner of an insurance claims inspection business, Rising Strategies LLC, and former banker, has announced a run as a Republican. Besides his business experience, Schneider has been involved with the Citizens for Self-Governance, Convention of States Project as regional director and the first state director. Two of Schneider’s six children have graduated from Emporia State University.
Schneider joins former USD 252 Southern Lyon County superintendent Mike Argabright on the Republican side of the ballot. Democrat Lillian Lingenfelter, currently the USD 253 Emporia board vice chair, has also filed.
For other positions representing Lyon County:
*Incumbent Duane Droge, a Republican, has filed for re-election to the House 13th District.
*Incumbent Republican Mark Schreiber has filed for re-election to the House 60th District. He’s currently facing a general election challenge from Democrat Mic McGuire for the second straight election cycle.
*Incumbent Republican Eric Smith is not running for re-election. Shawnee County District Attorney special investigator Brad Barrett, a Republican, has filed for the seat.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline is noon Monday.
