The Unbound Gravel weather forecast is officially calling for dry and sunny conditions with highs in the low 80s. Unofficially? It could be muddy as well.
Area residents have a moderate chance of showers and storms Thursday afternoon, with increasing chances of showers and storms for Thursday night and most of Friday. There is a marginal severe risk Thursday afternoon, with 1-inch hail and 60 mph winds as the potential hazards. Severe weather is not expected Friday.
The area could see up to half an inch of rain Thursday and another quarter-inch Friday.
Meanwhile, severe weather is not expected across the KVOE listening area for Unbound activities Friday or Saturday, but there are some short-term severe weather shelters in downtown Emporia just in case.
Emporia Main Street has coordinated for shelters at three downtown churches:
*Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial. This is a rain- and lightning-only shelter location
*First United Methodist Church, 823 Merchant. People need to enter through the west side doors
*St. Andrews Epsicopal Church, 828 Commercial. People need to enter through the front doors
Residents with questions need to call Main Street at 620-340-6430.
Emporia and Lyon County do not have severe weather shelters under most circumstances.
