The rain held off, so the Emporia Municipal Band opened up its regular season at Fremont Park instead of Albert Taylor Hall on Thursday night.
The band opened its 82nd season with “A Kansas Celebration” in honor of all the travelers in the area for Unbound Gravel, the Flint Hills Rodeo and other activities.
The next concert for the band is 8 pm June 6. The concert season runs through July 11.
