Kala Maxfield is heading back to a place that’s special in her life.
Emporia State University.
Maxfield was recently hired as Emporia State’s new executive director for engagement. Maxfield says the work she’s done in the Emporia community previously will help her with her new on-campus role at Emporia State.
Maxfield’s role begins with community and university conversations to determine exactly how ESU engages with external organizations. It will also include academic departments, athletics, alumni associations, foundation, and other on-campus groups.
Maxfield says she will learn a lot more about her Alma Mater during her first 30 days on the job.
When applying for the job, Maxfield says this would be a job that she could be successful with. Maxfield says a ‘dream goal’ of hers is to see Emporia State strive and bolster students on campus and online classes, as well as get classes involved with local businesses.
Maxfield currently serves as the Midwest region director for Clearwave Fiber and also has prior marketing experience with the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, CableOne, and ValuNet Fiber.
Maxfield’s first day on the job is June 17.
