Two individuals are in custody in connection to the stabbing incident on Congress Street Saturday evening.
According to Police Cpt. Lisa Hayes, Emporia Police responded to the apartment complex at 1101 Congress around 6 pm Saturday following several reports of a stabbing to the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center. Upon arrival, officers determined there was a “neighbor dispute involving multiple people” and a victim, an unnamed adult male, had suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to his back.
The individual was taken to Newman Regional Health by ambulance for observation and possibly treatment. Meanwhile, officers arrested two individuals, 18-year-old Raena Grana and 45-year-old Gary Grana both of Emporia.
Raena Grana was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, felony interference with law enforcement and disorderly conduct. Gary Grana was taken into custody on suspicion of felony interference with law enforcement and disorderly conduct.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. Formal charges are pending.
