Jury trial has been delayed in an attempted murder case following a motions hearing in Lyon County District Court Tuesday.
Travis Wade Westcott was tentatively set to begin jury trial as soon as next week, however, following a motion for continuance trial will now not take place until at least mid-October. A motions hearing is scheduled for 9 am October 4 before Judge Laura Miser with a status hearing set for October 9 at 4 pm before Judge Lee Fowler.
Trial could begin either October 15 or October 21.
Westcott is facing 25 total counts, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated witness intimidation, stalking and criminal threat.
The charges involve several alleged incidents between January 2020 and May 2023, including allegedly trying to kill a woman in October 2022. On top of the attempted murder case, Westcott allegedly violated his bond conditions late last year and was charged with aggravated intimidation and violating a protection order.
Trial in that case was originally set to take place in April, however, that case was delayed so the attempted murder case could be resolved first. A pretrial conference in the witness intimidation case is set for June 17.
