When the USA Today 10Best Candy Stores in America leaderboard was last shown Emporia’s own Sweet Granada was at the very top of it and you still have time to make sure they stay there.
Voting for the competition will conclude Monday and already the Granada has seen a tremendous amount of support as it was at the top of the list of 20 nominees for the honor. Sweet Granada owner Kim Redeker says while the majority of voting has no doubt come from friends, family and local customers she is also aware that a significant number of votes have come from individuals all across the country.
Redeker says just being nominated for the honor is a humbling experience adding that she never had any thoughts of the store beign a nationally recognized business. She says her main goal when opening the shop over a decade ago was just to be a vibrant and vital piece of the local community.
This is the second time this year Emporia has been in a USA Today 10Best competition after Emporia Main Street finished in second place in the 10Best Main Street in America competition. Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says the notoriety Emporia has received in recent months is tremendous and rightfully deserved, especially for the Sweet Granada.
Voting for the 10Best Candy Stores competition began in mid-May and will conclude at noon Monday and residents are able to vote once a day per device at 10best.USAToday.com. Click here to be taken directly to the voting page.
