A pair of two-time winners claimed City Championships that wrapped up on Sunday at Emporia Golf Course
On the men’s side, Brooks Sauder won his second city championship in three years with a two-day total of 140, winning the tournament by one stroke over Emporia State track and field coach Seth Mischke. Sauder said the tournament was a tale of two different days on the golf course.
Sauder just wrapped up a two-year career at Hutchinson Community College and has signed to play golf at Pittsburg State.
On the women’s side, Avary Eckert won her second city championship with a two-day total of 146, winning the tournament by five strokes over twin sister Olivia and seven over younger sister Elise. Avary Eckert said she hadn’t played many tournaments during her first year at Missouri Southern and felt good to come home and win the city championship.
Other champions on the men’s side include Caden Massey, who won the A-Flight with a two-day total of 150, four strokes ahead of runner-up Todd Preisner. Jim Barrett won the B-Flight with a two-day total of 168, edging out Calvin Murphy by three strokes. William Tsao won the Senior Championship with a two-day total of 147. Gary Nicolet won the Senior A-Flight with a two-day total of 158. Doug Crockett won the Super Senior Flight with a two-day total of 164, taking the title over John Korsack who also shot a 164, with the tiebreaker being Crockett’s final round was lower than Korsack’s.
