Newman Regional Health’s Board of Trustees has a special meeting ahead this week.
Board members plan to continue their ongoing conversations about potential strategic partnerships as part of at least one executive session at 3 pm Wednesday. No action is expected.
Newman Regional Health administrators and board members have been discussing potential strategic partnerships with other hospital operations for several months. The current discussion came to light after Stormont-Vail advised Newman Regional leadership about its plans for a new $32 million surgery center in Emporia. Newman Regional countered with a proposed package of zoning code text changes to both protect its financial interests while giving city leaders more oversight for outside hospital projects. Neither Newman Regional nor Stormont-Vail administrators have updated the facilitated conversation process that started in April.
