The Atlas Pod at Emporia American Legion Post 5 is getting great usage.
That’s according to Randy Kohl of the Department of Veteran’s Affairs during the VA’s monthly interview on KVOE.
During an open house two months ago, Kohl says around 60 veterans took advantage of learning about the Atlas Pod. Kohl says Emporia’s Atlas Pod is the third or fourth highest in the nation based on usage.
Kohl says the VA is looking to expand some more services for Veterans to access in Emporia.
During his interview with KVOE Tuesday morning, Kohl says 25 percent of all veterans live in rural areas. Kohl says the VA’s goal is to expand telehealth to rural veterans.
Of the 25 percent of rural veterans, 26 percent do not have access to internet at home. Kohl says they are trying to make it easier for veterans to access those appointments.
