A traffic stop in Osage County led to the arrest of a Topeka man on drug and traffic charges Monday.
According to Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells, an Osage County Sheriff’s K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 75 at milepost 140 for an alleged traffic violation around 4:40 pm. During the stop, illegal narcotics were allegedly found inside the vehicle driven by 59-year-old James R. Wright of Topeka.
Wright was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, illegal registration and having no insurance. Wright was taken to the Osage County Jail where he remains at last word.
Formal charges are pending.
