Repairs have been completed on a water main damaged by ongoing construction work late Tuesday morning.
Emporia Underground Utility Crews were called to the Interstate 35 bridge replacement construction zone around 11 am after the Kansas Department of Transportation’s contractor inadvertently damaged a waterline. The repair work was completed shortly after 3:30 pm.
Details including the size of the line and the scope of the damage have not been announced. Water service has been restored between Coronado and the Lincoln Street underpass.

Repair times are pending after a water main break in one of Emporia’s major construction zones.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says a waterline in the Lincoln Street bridge construction area was damaged by the contractor Tuesday morning. KVOE News observed water flowing from the bottom of the Interstate 35 bridge to Lincoln Street around 11 am.
Water service is currently impacted from the underpass around Coronado.
