Flooding is officially over in Lyon County.
The Cottonwood River at Emporia went below the 20-foot flood stage shortly before 7 am Wednesday. The river had crested at 23.11 feet early Tuesday after going into flood late Sunday night. The flood warning for the river gauge has been canceled.
Several Lyon County roads remain barricaded just south of Emporia:
*H from 145 to 150; just north of the Cottonwood River to US Highway 50
*J from 140 to 160
*K from 140 to 155
*145 from F to H
*147 from H to 150
*150 from E to the Cottonwood River; Kansas Turnpike to F; 147 to Kansas Highway 99
*155 from F to G; K to Kansas Highway 99
*170 from E-5 to F
Previously closed roads near Americus have reopened.

Flooding is gradually easing near Emporia after heavy rainfall this past weekend.
The Cottonwood River has crested at the Emporia gauge, topping out at just over 23.1 feet early Tuesday morning. The river was at 21.4 feet at 3:30 am, almost 1.5 feet above flood stage of 20 feet. It should go below flood stage Wednesday morning. A flood warning continues until early Thursday morning.
There are still several road segments closed due to flooding. The Lyon County Highway Department did not email an update Tuesday afternoon, but county officials are now re-emphasizing the road closure map available online at the county’s website, lyoncounty.org. That map indicates the following roads are closed due to flooding:
*F from 225 to 230
*H from 145 to 150; just north of the Cottonwood River to US Highway 50
*J from 140 to 160
*K from 140 to 155
*145 from F to H
*147 from H to 150
*150 from E to the Cottonwood River; Kansas Turnpike to F; 147 to Kansas Highway 99
*155 from F to G; K to Kansas Highway 99
*170 from E-5 to F
*225 from F to F-5
