The KVOE listening area is completely drought-free.
The US Drought Monitor reported a clean slate as part of its weekly update Thursday. Parts of Chase and Morris counties had been listed as abnormally dry, or the mildest level of drought, in the last few updates.
The update follows anywhere from 2-6 inches of rain Sunday and up to 2 inches of rain Saturday. It also deviates from Kansas Governor Laura Kelly’s latest drought declaration announced early this week. The governor has most of the eastern half of Kansas in a drought watch, with conditions “that indicate the probability of a water shortage is rising.”
