A low-end severe weather risk is ahead for part of the KVOE listening area late Friday night.
Wind gusts up to 60 mph are the main concern. The area of concern is along and west of a line from Cassoday to Neosho Rapids to Melvern.
Thursday night’s severe thunderstorm activity was mainly wind-related, with storm gusts between 62-72 mph near Elmdale and 58 mph near the Emporia Municipal Airport. Over 600 power customers, split almost evenly between Evergy and 4 Rivers, lost power in Lyon and Chase counties Thursday night.
Another round of severe weather is possible Saturday, but that is a marginal risk and currently sits just west of the KVOE listening area.
