Many utility customers in Chase County spent a good portion of Father’s Day without power.
According to Evergy, the outage developed in Cottonwood Falls Sunday morning affecting better than 380 residents just after 10:50 am. Evergy stated there was damage to several power poles and wires within the town as a result of high winds that came through with morning storms.
Outages were restored by Sunday night.
Meanwhile, 4 Rivers Electric Cooperative had a separate outage at its Thunderbird substation Sunday morning Crews needed to open the north circuit before making repairs and restoring power shortly before 1 pm. The number of affected customers is not immediately available.

According to Evergy, the outage developed in Cottonwood Falls Sunday morning affecting better than 382 residents just after 10:50 am. Evergy stated there was damage to several power poles and wires within the town as a result of high winds that came through with morning storms.
As of 5 pm the majority of outages had been restored, however, Evergy crews remain on scene repairing the damaged poles and lines.
A timeline for fully repairing the damaged poles and additional equipment is currently pending.
