Emporiaโs sales and discharge period for fireworks begins next week.
The sale and discharge period officially begins next Thursday and continues through Friday, July 5. Emporia Police Captain Ray Mattas recently spoke with KVOE News to offer some doโs and donโts with fireworks starting with where you cannot discharge them.
Discharge hours will be between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm June 27 through July 2, 10 am to 11 pm July 3 and 4 and again from 10 am to 10 pm July 5th. Failure to follow these rules can result in citations, fines and the confiscation of fireworks.
Mattas says these rules are in place to protect the safety of all individuals adding they want everyone to enjoy the holiday but to do so courteously and considerately.
