For over a decade, the citizens of Emporia have known the Sweet Granada is a truly special destination and now the rest of the country knows it as well.
The USA Today 10Best Candy Stores in America competition officially came to an end this week with the announcement of the top 10 finishers. Right near the top of the leaderboard was the Sweet Granada which finished in second place just behind the Taffy Shop in Estes Park, Colorado.
Sweet Granada Owner Kim Redeker says while finishing number one would have been great, she and her staff have just been grateful for the recognition and love that has poured in both locally and nationally.
This is the second time this year Emporia has finished in the top two of a USA Today 10Best competition after Emporia Main Street finished in second place in the 10Best Main Streets in America competition. Both finishes have helped to further place Emporia on the national stage and Redeker says she is honored her business is playing such a vital role for the community.
