Reading City Park will be a busy place Saturday morning.
The annual Reading Tornado Trot and Trail is scheduled to begin at the park with registration and check-in opening at 6:30 am. As always, the event will include a 5K run and walk and three bike distances, 14, 26 and 36 miles.
All proceeds from the event will go to support Handlebars of Hope, a charitable organization that provides free bikes — especially for disadvantaged residents in Mexico. After founder Matt brown and his family moved to Texas a few years back to be closer to those they serve, Ty and Lacie Davis of High Gear took over the Handlebars mission locally.
Lacie Davis says Handlebars has been busy in the local community as of late.
If you would like to participate in the Tornado Trot and Trail you can register at the event, email Tornadotrot@gmail.com or stop by High Gear Cylclery at 520 Commercial in Emporia to pick up a form. For questions or more information find Tornado Trot and Trail on Facebook.
