Two individuals, including a Chase County resident are dead after a two-vehicle collision in Marion County Thursday morning.
The accident was reported just before 6:30 am at US Highway 50 mile marker 298.3. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2017 GMC Acadia driven by 41-year-old Travis Alan Flasschoen of Wichita was traveling eastbound in the area and went left of center for unknown reasons.
The vehicle then entered the westbound lane where it collided with a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 71-year-old John Ireland of Cottonwood Falls. Both Flasschoen and Ireland suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
