All budget requests have been taken under consideration and the first draft of the 2025 budget for Lyon County is set to be presented next week.
As part of their regular action meeting Thursday morning, County Commissioners received their final appropriation requests from outside agencies, both of which were flat from the prior year. The Lyon County Conservation District is seeking $35,000 while the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging is again asking for just over $288,000.
Lyon County Controller Dan Williams tells KVOE News he will be presenting commissioners with the first draft of the 2025 budget when they reconvene next week. Williams was not ready to offer specifics on the budget at this time, however, he did tell KVOE News “I think we’re going to be in pretty good shape.”
In separate business Thursday, commissioners also approved a pair of requests from Lyon County Emergency Communications Center Director Roxanne Van Gundy. The requests included a payment totaling $4,400 for the 2024-25 ESRI subscription and permission to send Selena Ayer to the FBI Executive Leadership Institute in Bentonville, Arkansas from July 29 through August 2 for a total cost of $795.
Lyon County Facilities Director Robbie Weiss meanwhile, submitted a quote from Justice Painting for the repair, power washing and painting of the Lyon County Extension Office’s exterior for $15,400. Weiss also submitted a proposal from Mitchell Markowitz Construction for the make and installation of handrails at 425 Mechanic Street for $5,182.
Both items were approved unanimously. Approval was also granted for a request from Human Resources Director Alicia Rumold to add slots for all employees to the existing time clock.
Commissioners will reconvene next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
