Emporia State’s request to keep tuition and fees flat from the current academic year to the next has been approved by the Kansas Board of Regents.
ESU has been calling this move a net decrease because of its initial plans to increase both tuition and fees. Since commencement last month, President Ken Hush has been publicly saying it’s wrong to continue passing on higher education-related costs to students and families, and the approved request to maintain the current cost structure aligns with the Board of Regents’ affordability strategic pillar. Hush also says ESU can take this step due to efficiencies and incremental funding.
Hush says ESU is grateful to its partners, including the ESU Foundation, city of Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas lawmakers, alums, donors and foundations.
