The city of Emporia has some event-based and movement-based traffic adjustments coming soon.
The city is closing Ninth Avenue between Commercial and the west alley on Friday for the annual Pride Live celebration. Closure times are 7-9 pm.
Also related to Emporia’s annual Pride event, the annual parade will start at Emporia State’s Kellogg Circle at 6 pm Saturday and move south. Drivers are asked to avoid Commercial between Eighth and 12th between 6 and 6:30 pm.
Tuesday will see an equipment “super load” move through parts of Emporia, and adjustments begin Monday. Northbound traffic on Merchant Street will be detoured east to Burlingame Road for both Monday and Tuesday. The traffic light at 12th and Merchant will also be offline from 8 am Monday until the super load exits Emporia on Tuesday.
