A Hamilton woman was hurt in a wreck that developed near Olpe on Monday.
The crash happened just before 1:15 pm at the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 75, or Olpe’s Santa Fe Street. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a small crossover SUV driven by 21-year-old Paige Knight of Hamilton was southbound and in the process of turning left, or east. A pickup driven by 25-year-old Winter McHugh of Clinton, Missouri, rear-ended Knight’s vehicle.
Knight suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. McHugh suffered possible injuries but was not transported by ambulance.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
3 pm Monday: One person hurt in Monday wreck near Olpe
One person was brought to Emporia for medical treatment after a wreck near Olpe on Monday.
Lyon County deputies joined Emporia Fire and Olpe Fire at the scene at the junction of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 75, or Santa Fe Street, shortly after 1 pm. Emporia Fire Capt. Willie Ward says one vehicle was turning onto Santa Fe and was rear-ended.
One person was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment. Injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
