The funds, paid out annually, can help to offset health, accident, disability and life insurance premiums for local firefighters. FRAs can also make safety enhancements like new trucks or equipment and facility improvements.
In Lyon County, Emporia Fire received the most at almost $135,000. Areawide, Coffey County District 1 garnered the most money at over $205,000.
