A tornado watch has been issued for a majority of the KVOE listening area through the late evening hours Friday.
The watch effects Lyon, Chase, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties until 11 pm. The watch comes with a slight risk for severe weather covering all area counties.
In addition to the tornado risk, main hazards will include high winds and large hail through the late evening. A marginal risk for severe activity also covers the entire area Saturday afternoon and evening with damaging winds again being the main hazard of concern.

Light rain came to the KVOE listening area before sunrise. Severe weather did not.
Area residents were under a marginal severe weather risk, mainly for wind, through the overnight hours. Rain totals:

*10th and Weaver: 0.05 inches
Friday will see a brief return of stifling heat and humidity as air temperatures climb to near 100 degrees and peak heat index readings could get to 107 locally by late afternoon. All area counties are in a slight severe weather risk area for all hazards, specifically wind and hail, from late afternoon through the evening hours.
