Over the years, the Kansas Shrine Bowl has added features and components to its overall summer experience, like the All-Star Band and Cheer components and — for the first time this year — a Friday Night Showcase event.
However, the main event, the annual football game, and all other related activities are designed to bring attention and money to the Shriners hospitals helping children with significant medical needs. Kansas Shrine Bowl Executive Director Brice Kesler says the Shriners also work to make a child’s stay as comfortable and uplifting as possible.
Emporia hosted the Shrine Bowl on Saturday for the sixth time, and Kesler thanked a long list of local sponsors and partners for making the overall event and different components go smoothly. Activities over the past week have also included a golf tournament and a nearly 30-minute parade. The Shrine Bowl heads to Dodge City next year.
