Fourth of July activities will take place after the holiday at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.
The preserve will have its activities Saturday afternoon as historic ranch characters will stop their chores at 1 pm for a reading of the Declaration of Independence, hearkening back to the 1800s where such activities were common.
Other activities go from 1-3 pm with historic cames loke a bucket brigade contest, wheelbarrow race, tug-of-war, potto sack race, foot waces and hoop-and-stick games.
Residents attending Saturday’s activities are asked to bring a picnic lunch.
