CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness has reached a major milestone with its continued work to provide mental health and substance abuse services areawide.
CrossWinds has announced it full certification as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. CEO Amanda Cunningham says the shift in models from a traditional mental health care process to the CCBHC model has been transformative for CrossWinds.
The model was developed as a collaborative effort between the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, focusing on full wellness by integrating physical health care with behavioral health and also focusing on out-of-clinic treatment options like mobile units and telehealth.
CrossWinds has been provisionally certified for the past year, and Cunningham says much of the recent expansion through the multi-million-dollar Breaking Stigma, Breaking Ground capital campaign has been a step towards CrossWinds moving from the traditional mental health care model to the CCBHC model.
Cunningham says CrossWinds will finish implementing a 24/7 mobile crisis service in the next few months. She also says CrossWinds will continue to add staff to meet the local and area need.
