Becoming a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters can change lives.
According to Area Manager Michelle Sink, a guest on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 Segment recently, becoming a Big for a Little can go a long way in life.
Big Brothers Big Sisters currently serves 26 youths in the Emporia area. Sink says that number could be higher with recruiting and getting families involved.
Sink says people who get involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters are through ‘word of mouth.’ Sink says testimonials change Bigs’ lives as well as their Littles’. Sink, a Big herself, has mentored a Little for the past three years with meetings at school for 30 minutes a week.
Sink says there are benefits for parents to get their children involved with a mentor, eventually seeing positive differences at home. Sink says there are opportunities for fundraisers with details still pending.
