DUI arrests, speed citations, safety belt citations and motorist assist calls were all down from last year as the Kansas Highway Patrol has released information from its Indepdence Day Holiday Activity Report.
Troopers say DUI arrests fell from 31 last year to 16 this year, and speed citations dipped from almost 1,150 to nearly 1,100. Safety belt citations and warnings, both for adults and teenagers, were all down, although child restraint citations increased from 23 to 28.
Motorist assistance calls dipped from 1,085 to just over 900.
Troopers had no fatal crashes, DUI-related or otherwise, to work during the holiday period, which ran from July 3-7.
