A Lebo man suffered possibly serious injuries after a crash between Emporia and Allen late Wednesday morning.
Lyon County Deputy Collin Brozek says 20-year-old Andrew Bailey crashed in the 1300 block of Road 280, about 10 miles north of Emporia, at around 11:30 am. Bailey’s SUV had apparently left the road, going into the south culvert and hitting a drainage pipe — causing disabling damage to the vehicle.
Brozek says Bailey was out of the SUV with a suspected head injury when deputies and Emporia/Lyon County EMS arrived at scene. Bailey was not wearing his seatbelt when the crash happened and could not recall what happened immediately before the crash.
Emporia Fire Capt. Wade Schmidt says Life Star airlifted Bailey to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment.
Deputies are investigating.
