There is new — and there are some adjustments — to this year’s Lyon County Fair schedule.
New to the fair is a barbecue competition Aug. 10. Fair Board Vice President Aaron Armitage is looking forward to that tasty event.
Contestants will present beef brisket, St. Louis-style pork ribs and their choice of chicken.
The big change to the schedule is the move of the Demolition Derby, normally the fair’s grand finale, to the middle of the event schedule Aug. 10. Armitage says the derby host had a schedule conflict, and the goal is to return the derby to the end of the fair next year. The Carnival is the standalone finale for this year’s fair.
Speaking of the grandstand schedule, the other traditional events return like the Ranch Rodeo on Aug. 4, Buck Rumble and Roll on Aug. 6, 4-H Rodeo on Aug. 7, Antique Tractor Pull on Aug. 8, 4-H Premium Sale on Aug. 12 and Truck and Tractor Pull on Aug. 16. Armitage says tickets are available as we speak.
Fair activities go from Aug. 1-17. As usual, KVOE will have extensive coverage of the Lyon County Fair, including 4-H show reports, animal show video and grandstand event remotes.
Fair information is available at lyoncountyfairks.org and on the Lyon County Fair Facebook page.
