Trial is coming Monday in an Emporia rape case.
Antoine Moliere will return to Lyon County District Court for trial Monday after a status hearing Wednesday. Trial could last through Wednesday.
Prosecutors have filed a motion to allow the child witnesses in the case to have an adult support figure and comfort items while they testify, as well as a separate motion to allow “child-friendly” procedures like periodic recesses, non-threatening announcements of objections if those are needed, modifications to seating arrangements and “some leeway” as prosecutors offer questions “beyond the normal scope of relevance” during their direct examinations of the child witnesses.
Moliere is accused of raping a maximum five-year-old child between February and April 2023. There is one count of rape in the case, along with an alternate count of aggravated indecent liberties for alleged activity with the same child this past December.
