Work continues to repave US Highway 50 across the eastern half of Chase County.
Repaving work has been underway for several weeks between the Lyon-Chase county line and Strong City, which has meant temporary one-lane traffic and the use of flaggers and pilot cars to direct drivers through the work zone. Delays of up to 15 minutes have been commonplace throughout the project, and the Kansas Department of Transportation says that will be the norm for the rest of the project.
KDOT says work is taking place only during daylight hours. There could also be some breaks in the work as the project contractor shifts from paving to shoulder work to pavement markings.
The project should last through mid-August, weather permitting.
Separately in Chase County, the county’s Road and Bridge Department has started repairs on the Road 170 Bridge between B Road and C Road. The process should last through July 19, weather permitting.
