Monday’s small grass fire in southwest Lyon County was connected to farm equipment, although the swather in question didn’t actually catch fire as initially reported.
The fire developed in the 200 block of Road E, prompting responses by Olpe and Madison fire departments. Olpe firefighter Tony Fuller says the swather was cutting hay and threw sparks after hitting some rocks. The sparks developed into a fire that burned less than five acres.
Nobody was hurt.
