Water service is back online for a handful of west Emporia businesses after a water main break well before sunrise Wednesday, but it’s offline for another part of Emporia.
Service was reported as offline for parts of West US Highway 50 shortly before 4 am. A 12-inch line failed in the 2600 block on the north side of the highway.
Early indications had all businesses on the north side of US-50 between Anderson Street and the Lyon County Fairgrounds as without water. It took about five hours for Underground Utilities crews to repair the damage and restore water service.
Almost as soon as that situation was resolved, crews had to go to the corner of Fourth and Sylvan for a separate water main break shortly before 9:15 am. Details about that incident are currently pending.
