Emporia High School will be closed for an undisclosed period of time due to a water main break Monday.
The first mention of the break came via a post on the Emporia High School Spartan Pride Band Facebook page which stated band camp for Tuesday was canceled due to a break under the school. Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren later confirmed to KVOE that a break had developed near the loading dock, however, the time of the break as well as the size of the line impacted have not been disclosed.
EHS Principal Dathan Fischer tells KVOE News there was no water flow inside of the building and the line must be repaired to restore water service. A timeline for repairs is currently pending but the high school will remain closed until they’re complete.
In the meantime, band camp activities will resume Wednesday at Emporia Middle School.

Summer activities at Emporia High School have been canceled Tuesday.
According to the Emporia High Spartan Pride Band Facebook page, band camp scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled and is set to resume Wednesday at Emporia Middle School. The reason for the cancelation and later resumption of activities at a different location is reportedly due to a water main break under the high school.
