Emanul Cornejo has been found competent to stand trial in a Lyon County aggravated battery case, so court proceedings will resume next month.
CrossWinds evaluated Cornejo after a hearing late last month, and Judge Jeff Larson accepted the report’s findings as part of a hearing Friday. A preliminary hearing is now set for Aug. 26.
Cornejo faces charges of aggravated battery, interference with law enforcement and other counts after an alleged incident in the 700 block of Sylvan in early May. One person was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected serious injuries.
