An Emporia driver was involved in a wreck that led to suspected serious injuries for another driver Sunday.
The crash happened on US Highway 24 near US Highway 40 near Lawrence shortly before 3:30 pm. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the wreck started when a pickup driven by 19-year-old Chase Peck of Oskaloosa was following a second pickup driven by 49-year-old Joseph Hill of McLouth too closely. Hill slowed down as a tractor driven by 36-year-old Jonathan Tinoco of Lawrence was turning off the highway and Peck’s truck hit Hill’s truck.
That impact set off a chain reaction chrash where Hill’s truck rear-ended Tinoco’s tractor and a car driven by 19-year-old Brooklyn Crowell of Emporia hit Peck’s truck.
Hill was the only one transported for medical care. He went to Stormont-Vail in Topeka with suspected serious injuries.
