Railroad crossing work in downtown Emporia continues Friday, with maintenance and repairs at the Merchant and Constitution crossings.
Also, the city has announced Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s contractor will close the Weaver Street crossing for maintenance this upcoming Monday. Weaver will be closed to thru traffic between East Sixth, also known as US Highway 50, and South Avenue.
Crossing work is also planned next week near Neosho Rapids. BNSF is setting up traffic control at the Road Y crossing, about a mile east-northeast of Neosho Rapids, for maintenance and repairs coming Aug. 15-16.
