A Lyon County criminal case that started with charges of drug distribution has ended with a sentence on a lesser charge.
Sophia Cherrell Lavon Cole had pleaded no contest to possessing methamphetamine as part of a plea agreement reached in late June. On Friday, she was sentenced to 18 months probation with an underlying 12-month prison term for violations.
Cole was originally charged with distributing up to 100 dosage units of fentanyl, up to 100 grams of methamphetamine and up to 450 grams of marijuana as part of an alleged incident in February. The distribution counts were dropped, as was a count of possessing paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, plant or cultivate a controlled substance.
Co-defendant Azim Williams, also initially charged with distributing fentanyl, meth and marijuana, has reached a separate plea agreement, pleading no contest to distributing small amounts of fentanyl and meth. Sentencing in Williams’ case is Aug. 19.
