Updates on capital projects and other facility matters are ahead for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education.
Board members will get an overall update along with specific information about boiler repairs at both Riverside and Timmerman elementary schools. Separately, the board will consider an administrative leeway request to spend $30,000 for plumbing repairs at Emporia High.
In other business, the board will discuss whether to continue subsidizing the costs for reduced-price school meals after starting that process last year. Board members will get an overview of Extended School Year services for students with disabilities.
Concurrent partnerships with Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College will be handled during the consent agenda, where several items can be approved with one vote. Three executive sessions are planned, two for attorney consultation and one for personnel matters.
The meeting starts at 6 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert Education Center.
With the district’s Jump Start taking place Tuesday and the first official day of classes Wednesday, Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder will discuss the start of classes during KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:20 am Tuesday.
